Eating Disorders

Personal Experience

Confessions of a Binge Eater "One night I wandered into the kitchen and reached for the ice cream. I started with a small portion, then helped myself to more. Before I knew it, I had eaten the whole container. I discovered that eating made me forget my troubles for a while."

Ms. Jekyll, Monster Hyde "Determined to stay thin at any cost, I abused substances like alcohol, cigarettes, diet pills, diuretics, and laxatives. My whole body image became an obsession. If I'm thinner and prettier, I thought, life will be perfect. Then I'll be a success."

Not Just a Girl Thing "I stepped on the bathroom scale daily, charting my weight to the quarter of a pound. In addition, I devoted three to four hours daily to exercise, usually weight lifting and running. Fatigue was a continual enemy I could not battle."
