The 7 "I Am" Sayings of Jesus in the Gospel of John

- To show that He is the true manna from heaven, Jesus feeds the 5,000 and afterwards declares, "I am the bread of life" (John 6:35, 48).

- To show that He is the illuminator of human darkness, Jesus heals the man born blind and declares, "I am the light of the world" (John 9:5).
- To show that He is the only entrance into the kingdom of God, Jesus declares, "I am the door" (John 10:7, 9).
- To show that He is willing to lay down His life to save and defend God's people, Jesus declares, "I am the good shepherd" (John 10:11, 14).
- To show that He has victory over death, Jesus raises Lazarus from the dead and declares, "I am the resurrection and the life" (John 11:25).

- To show that He is the root and sustenance of the church, and the source of its spiritual productivity, Jesus declares, "I am the true vine" (John 15:15).
