The 7 "I Am" Sayings of Jesus in the Gospel of John

    1. To show that He is the true manna from heaven, Jesus feeds the 5,000 and afterwards declares, "I am the bread of life" (John 6:35, 48).
    2.  To show that He is the illuminator of human darkness, Jesus heals the man born blind and declares, "I am the light of the world" (John 9:5).
    3. To show that He is the only entrance into the kingdom of God, Jesus declares, "I am the door" (John 10:7, 9).
    4. To show that He is willing to lay down His life to save and defend God's people, Jesus declares, "I am the good shepherd" (John 10:11, 14).
    5. To show that He has victory over death, Jesus raises Lazarus from the dead and declares, "I am the resurrection and the life" (John 11:25).
    6. To show His disciples that He is the sole means to the Father's presence, Jesus declares, "I am the way, the truth, and the life" (John 14:6).
    7. To show that He is the root and sustenance of the church, and the source of its spiritual productivity, Jesus declares, "I am the true vine" (John 15:15).
